I'm happy to invite Maya Jupiter to our show today. Maya's been a close friend to my wife and our family, and I'm really excited to share her story with you all today.

As a brief background:

Maya Jupiter is an Australian Hip Hop Artivist whose music explores themes of social justice, activism, and revolutionary motherhood.

She co-founded Artivist Entertainment to support artists who use their art to promote positive social transformation and was the producer and presenter of a national Hip Hop radio show and VJ on music Channel [V]. Maya has facilitated song writing workshops with youth for the last twenty years. Now raising a family in Los Angeles, Maya coaches young artists through Music Forward's Open Mic Friday program and is currently working on an album with Tongva/Chumash Artist Jessa Calderon.

There's several nuggest of wisdom that Maya shared with us today, the two that I gravitate towards is when she said:

1. You don't know what the universe has in store for you. It's important to be open to everything. Don't be attached to one idea of what success looks like.

2. Trust your instincts. Keep that free spirit.
